They really don’t, and it’s a damn shame.
I was browsing gunbroker this morning and stumbled across an absolutely beautiful little Husqvarna Mauser in 9.3x57mm. It’s an aesthetic I just love: simple, minimal, almost austere. Nothing fancy or extraneous. Crisp, properly polished metalwork. A lean, elegant stock with absolutely no fat on it (look at how trim the forend is in picture 14). There’s no weight listed, but I’d be surprised if it breaks 7 lbs.
Yep, I want it.
SARCO had a bunch of ‘em(still does, in fact) for small money – They were even selling ones with cracked stocks $250ish, IIRC(which I wanted, so I could restock to a nice piece of walnut).
I will say that 9.3×57 has a decent amount of ME – roughly 2700ft/lbs. It would be a good choice for a cast bullet gun, as it has a fairly low velocity(2000ft/sec with a 286gr)
What a fine little woods gun!
