You should never point a loaded gun at anyone. This is not a hard and fast rule, however. A hard and fast rule is that you should never, ever, point an unloaded gun at anyone.
Catblogging sorta fell by the wayside there, so y’all are overdue for an update.
Clancy’s coming up on 5 months old, maybe 8 pounds or so (he won’t stay on a scale), and (finally!) fully vaccinated and healthy. Next month he goes in for The Big Snip, the poor little bastard. He’s definitely a People Cat, so long as the people in question is me. Basically, if I’m in the house, he’s on my lap or following me around. Once his initial skittishness wore off he warmed up to Squeaky, too. She snapped these pictures of him:
Now if only he’d stop growing those Velociraptor claws…
If you love shooting but hate cleaning your guns, you absolutely owe it to yourself to buy Bore Snakes for all the calibers you shoot. You’ll get your barrels clean in one or two passes with no risk of crown damage, no fussing with patches and no skewering your fingers on jags.
I suggest buying rifle models for all your bore diameters, both handgun and rifle. A .30 caliber rifle Bore Snake works just as well in your .32 ACP pistol, the .35/.375 rifle model takes care of your 9mms, and the .458 rifle Snake handles .44 and .45 handguns. MidwayUSA has ‘em on sale for $11.99-12.49 right now.
I have an inexplicable desire to buy either a Glock 32 (.357 SIG) or a Colt Lightweight Commander in .38 Super. Do I need one? What is this “need” to which you refer? It’s just one of those random “wants” that strikes me from time to time.
The rational side of me pulls up the ballistics tables and starts comparing: looks like a .38 Super only gains ~75 fps on a 9mm +p, and the .357 SIG gets another ~75 fps on top of that; hardly enough of a performance gain to justify the increased expense and decreased availability when it comes to ammunition.
You can tell it’s spring in Michigan when snow still covers the ground and the thermometer reads 37°, but we’re all driving around with our windows rolled down.
Squeaky and I burned up 300 rounds of Winchester White Box 9mm yesterday with disappointing results. Both my CZ-85 and FN Hi-Power had numerous stoppages: double-feeds in the CZ and failures to return to battery in the HP. Those guns have always run with 100% reliability in the past.
Squeaky had a live round stick in the chamber of her XD with the slide about 1/4″ out of battery; examination of the round showed the bullet seated so crooked that its base actually poked through the case wall. Spooky.
My usual range ammo is Remington UMC; we tried the Winchester because it was cheap and available. I don’t think I’ll be buying it again.
