Kitteh Update

Well, I took the kitteh ’round to the local Chinese joint, but they weren’t interested; too scrawny.

So… off to the pet supply store.

You know, just to get a couple cans of kitten food. Can’t let the little runt starve, after all.

And a small bag of kitty litter.

And a few cat toys.

:sigh:

How do you work these things?

Our normal vet is closed until tomorrow afternoon, so it looks like we’ll at least have an overnight houseguest.  I don’t know Thing One about taking care of a cat. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I Can Has Kitteh?

Oh boy, what now?

I was awakened about an hour ago by the Unforgiving Puppy growling and stomping with all his might by the back door. Usually when this happens there’s a rabbit or a squirrel sitting on the patio. This time it was a tiny, gray and white kitten, mewling pathetically and shivering.

Well, shit.

It’s curled up in a cardboard box with a blanket and a hot water bottle now. Seems to be skinny and scared but structurally sound. I suppose I should give the vet a call and find out what to do with it.

I’m afraid I might be stuck with the damn thing since the local shelters are usually overflowing with cats. Wouldn’t be too cool of me to save it and then hand it over to get euthanized. Besides, the little guy (girl?) already gave me blogfodder.

If you STILL haven’t gotten me a Christmas present…

… CDNN has CZ 452 Americans in .22LR for $279.99. Check page 60 of the new catalog.

I’m off to take my last two finals of the semester. Following that, and assuming I find an instrument capable of breaking up a gigantic writer’s block, I’ll have something more to say.

A Class Act

Got a Christmas card in the mail from the nice folks over at Lightning Arms Sports, from whom I bought my Craig Spegel Hi-Power grips. You don’t see that kind of customer service too often.

On a related note, I just want to mention that I don’t do paid blogvertising of any kind. When I mention a company here or link to them on the sidebar, it’s because they’ve gone above and beyond for me and I’m returning the favor.

A Couple More Vids…

… to fill the time while I finish off my finals.

Yesterday’s post got me started on a Nick Cave kick. Here’s Nick and PJ Harvey doing “Henry Lee” from Murder Ballads:

And Nick, Shane MacGowan and Kylie Minogue covering Bob Dylan’s “Death is Not the End”:

Great cover, or THE GREATEST cover?

I recently got into a little argument with Squeaky over this video of Nick Cave and Shane MacGowan performing “What a Wonderful World.” She pronounced it “horrible” within the first 15 seconds, which is obviously absurd:

The real question, though, is if Messrs. Cave and MacGowan managed to top Joey Ramone’s rendition:

If you’re into early punk music you might recognize the guy who shakes hands with Joey at 1:48 as Richard Hell.

What say the readers?

I can has job!

I got the position; I turn in my paperwork to HR tomorrow and, come January, I’ll be an official IT monkey. And a well-paid monkey, at that!

Oh, and the blog’s been updated to the latest WordPress; please let me know if you see any breakage.

More to follow. Right now it’s tequila time.

Zap!

Just wrapped up the hands-on final in my hardware course, during which the dude next to me released all the magic smoke from his motherboard. Which is not, technically speaking, the way to pass said final exam.

I love the smell of burning electronics in the morning.

How it’s Done.
