.450 Nitro Express
Looks like Ruger and Hornady are teaming up to revive the .450 Nitro Express.
This is a pretty easy one for Ruger; they just have to cut a different chamber in the .458″ barrels they already make for the .458 Lott. Gunsmiths have been doing this as a custom conversion for years.
I’m working on a longer post with details on the cartridge itself; it should be up this weekend.

It’s going to make a magnificent black powder toy too.
It’s the same case as the .450 Express black powder round. There are slight differences between that and the Sharps 45/120 case in head and rim diameter, but the interior dimensions are the same.
A paper patched soft lead bullet, a case full of FFF and one of the new Malcolm type scopes would make me a happy camper.
…… and I would always have the option of using the nitro express loads if I wanted to hunt semis.

Hey, don’t go ruining my not-yet-published post by saying everything I was going to say before I get around to saying it
There’s also the possibility of doing nitro-for-black loadings like the British used to do in the Cordite era…
