The Unforgiving Minute
I have known more men destroyed by the desire to have wife and child and to keep them in comfort than I have seen destroyed by drink and harlots.

Argh

Ran upstairs to dig a USB cable out of my Pile O’ Computer Stuff and heard a tap-tap-tapping coming from my closet. Looked in closet to see water dripping all over my halfway-refurbed SKS, which is already beginning to rust. Looked up from rusty gun to see water dripping off of the light fixture. Went up into attic and found steady trickle of water pouring in from roof (it’s been raining all day). Put bucket under leak and dug out insulation (damn, that shit itches!) to find a nice little trail of soaked drywall.

Goddamnit. That roof is only 2 years old.

  1. Water damage sucks. Hope you don’t have to do any major tear-outs; that’s how I ended up with a downstairs bathroom renovation.

  2. I feel your pain.

Six months after buying my house, I developed a leak in my bathroom ceiling. It wasn’t rain, but the water heater. Cost me a pretty penny to replace (extra because of the location).

Who puts a water heater in the attic? Geez.
